
Madrid, March 12, 2011 -- We are much proud to announce that Karen Danylchuk, Associate Professor in the School of Kinesiology at The University of Western Ontario (UWO) in London, Ontario, Canada, will be Keynote Speaker at the 19th EASM Conference in Madrid with her talk: “Sport Management Commitment to Internationalization”. A subject which is at the heart of this year’s Conference.
Dr. Danylchuk boasts an impressive CV which can hardly reflect her brilliant academic and sporting career. Karen currently teaches sport management and sport marketing. She has held two administrative appointments throughout her 25 years at UWO--Chair of the Undergraduate Program and Coordinator of Intercollegiate Athletics. She has been a competitive athlete in tennis and squash, and has coached tennis, squash, and golf at the university level.
Prior to working at The University of Western Ontario, Dr. Danylchuk taught in Hong Kong from 1982-86 where she directed the Aquatics Program at Hong Kong International School, taught physical education, and coached swimming, tennis, track and field, and water polo. She competed for the Canadian Women’s Dragon Boat Team during these four years.
A great traveller, Dr. Danylchuk has visited over 80 countries and has served as Team Canada’s Assistant Chef de Mission Administration at the 1997 World University Games (Universiade) in Sicily, Italy, and was one of Team Canada’s golf coaches at the 2008 World University Golf Championships in Sun City, South Africa. She provided a keynote address at the Universiade Conference in Bangkok, Thailand in 2007.
An internationally renowned expert in Sport Management and Sport Marketing, she is also a former President of the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) and currently serves as its international representative. She has attended nearly all EASM conferences since the organization’s inception and has also presented at the regional counterpart conferences of the Sport Management Association of Australia and New Zealand (SMAANZ) and the Asian Association of Sport Management (AASM). Dr. Danylchuk is a Research Fellow of NASSM and a recipient of NASSM’s Earle F. Zeigler Lecture Award (2010) and the Garth Paton Distinguished Service Award (2007).
