The Universidad Europea de Madrid School of Sports Science, the leading private school in terms of degree programs in the field of sport, will be launching the first Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management this October – a degree program aimed at adding a business perspective to the professional horizons of students studying Sports Science by associating it with sport management.
The business of sport and leisure demands new professionals with managerial expertise and specific knowledge who, in turn, require a new concept in university degree programs. In this regard, the Universidad Europea de Madrid Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management focuses on a more multi-skilled professional approach that is associated with business for those students wishing to combine a passion for sport with business management.
“The launch of this degree program at Universidad Europea de Madrid, a pioneering private university centre in the field of studies associated with sport in Spain, represents a firm commitment to bringing our students closer to the working world and internationalizing their profiles by offering maximum academic quality in order to transform them into 21st Century professionals”, says Juan Mayorga, Dean of the Universidad Europea de Madrid School of Sports Science.
The Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management is the first and only such degree being taught in Spain, thus making Universidad Europea de Madrid a pioneer in the provision of these studies. The success of these programs has been widely demonstrated in such countries as the United States of America and others in Europe with a more advanced sports culture and tradition, thus raising Spain to the international level in this respect. The Universidad Europea de Madrid degree program is of a markedly international nature due to the progressive bilingual nature in which it is taught. Students begin studying the majority of subjects in Spanish and gradually incorporate more subjects in English over the course of the years of study. Furthermore, students are offered internships at universities of recognized prestige, such as Arizona State University, University of Liverpool or Staffordshire University, among others, or with international organizations, such as the EHFA (European Health & Fitness Association).
Thanks to the agreements this institution has signed with numerous other Spanish institutions and companies (the Spanish National Sports Council, the European Association of Sports Employers, the various sports federations and such clubs as Real Madrid), the students will also have the opportunity to undertake their professional internship in a qualified environment in Spain, which will enable them to gain knowledge of the professional reality at the highest level while they complete their period of training.
“Students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management will also be able to benefit from the high level of research undertaken by this School of Sports Science at Universidad Europea de Madrid, the extensive range of technologies made available to the student body, our commitment to innovation and the most cutting-edge sports facilities at our Villaviciosa de Odón Campus in Madrid”, concludes Juan Mayorga.
With this new degree program, the Universidad Europea de Madrid School of Sports Science will be teaching 7 accredited degree programs this coming academic year (Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Science, Bachelor’s Degree Primary Education, Specialization: Sports Science, Bachelor’s Degree in Dance Science, Double Degree: Sports Science + Physical Therapy and Double Degree: Primary Education + Sports Science).
